Intel Alder Lake: the new processors available in October?

You have already been told of the 12 series chips meeting the sweet name of Alder Lake, and their mirific performance (20% gain compared to the previous generation or even more), but we now know a little more about their availability. The firm of Santa Clara will reveal its new processors at the Intel Innovation event to be held on October 27 and 28.

As usual with the founder, one expects availability in the stride. However, according to the very informed Igor Walloseck (from Igor's Lab), all cartridges will not be drawn on that date, since only the K and KF chips (ie the upper overclockable, with or without IGPU) will be presented. Accompanied by the new Z690 chipset that will have to be disposed of on its motherboard to be able to enjoy all the features of these chips **.

Recall that Alder Lake will introduce a new architecture that mixes powerful Golden Cove hearts, with more economical fraught hearts.

  • The i5-12500K will therefore be a 6C + 4C, or 6 Core Golden Cove with Hyperthreading and 4 Gracemont Hearts, or 16 threads available. The chip will be equipped with 20MB of Cache L3. Frequency level, the 6C will turn between 4.5 and 4.9 GHz, while the 4C will evolve between 3.4 and 3.6 GHz
  • The i7-12700K will be in 8C + 4C, or 20 threads available, with 25 MB of Cache L3. Frequency level, the 8C will turn between 4.7 and 5.0 GHz while the 4C will be between 3.6 and 3.8 GHz.
  • Finally, the i9-12900K will be in 8C + 8C, or 24 threads with this time 30 MB of L3 cache. The 8C will turn between 5 and 5.3 GHz while the 8C will be between 3.7 and 3.9 GHz

Consumption level, no miracle with 125W TDP in PL1 and 228W in PL2. Recall that these chips will also be compatible with the DDR5 memory
