Essential advice to start and have fun

RIP RAIDERZ! So, About That Re-Launch.. Hah.

The Oculus Quest 2 is at our doorstep and is one of the most impressive VR options to date. A fully wireless experience, Quest 2 does not require console or PC to work. It is an incredibly liberating experience and in which I can not wait to dive more, but I also had the chance to use the virtual reality before. Virtual reality is impossible to describe, and the videos we see do not make him justice to which it becomes engaging and really real. If the Oculus Quest 2 is on your radar - what it should really be - it may seem more than a little intimidating. I am here to help you adapt to this any new world and offer you 9 tips to start and have a good time with your Oculus Quest 2.

You will look around you inside the virtual reality, so the last thing you want is that the new glossy quest 2 falls from your face and touches the floor. The helmet has two straps: the main band that wraps around your head and a second that goes on top. Loosen the upper strap first and focus on its comfort and fit around your head. The horizontal strap should be placed just above your ears with plastic adjustment clips in the middle of the back of your head. The clips slide to adjust the tension and get a perfect fit. It is important to make this adjustment first, because if you start with the upper strap, it may not rest safely on your head while making you think it is nice and well adjusted. Once the side strap is in place, that of the top passes through the front of the mask and perfectly places in place with Velcro. Once you have found your ideal parameter, you should no longer need to adjust it unless someone else uses Quest 2, in which case it must follow the same step.

It is important to adjust the straps so that they adapt comfortably, but all faces are not identical! If the image seems a little blurry, it can be due to the IPD or remote interpupillary parameter. This is the distance in millimeters between your pupils facing the front. The Quest 2 comes with three settings: 58, 63 and 68 mm. You would like to remove the headset and adjust this setting by dragging the lens to the left or right and see the one that suits you best. Between the lenses will show a number so that you know which setting is optimal for your eyes (do not hesitate to enter a rule and a friend to find your accurate IPD setting). You may also need to drag the device itself up or down a few mm to get this perfect clarity. This may require some minor adjustments to these straps, but this focus will offer you the best absolute experience with your VR.

Security is of utmost importance in VR, and Oculus Quest 2 has two really fantastic Guardian Boundary settings as well as Passthrough +. When you browse the configuration steps of the Oculus Quest 2 for the first time, you will be guided through the limits settings. Stationary will create a cylinder around you when sitting or motionless. He does it automatically and does not require any effort. The other option, roomscale, activates the external cameras allowing you to see the world around you. You will be prompted to define the height of the ground, then to use the touch controller to draw a border around your game space, creating an invisible border. In both cases, if you exceed these limits, a grid becomes clear and becomes red to indicate that you move out of the limits. If you go too far, the passthrough + function comes into action, activating external cameras and allowing you to see the real world around you. These methods are both phenomenal and easy to use, often encouraging you to choose one whenever you start the helmet. It is best to take the time to familiarize yourself with these options in the settings in order to play in peace of mind.

Any good console comes with a technical demo to show what it can do, and the Oculus Quest 2 is no different. My three best choices to try are first steps, first contact and Elixir in this order. You will need to find them in the Oculus Store (which is very easy to navigate) and they will be downloaded in seconds. It is better to play First Steps sitting while your brain adapts to the new environment. It presents the touch controllers and how the basic mechanics works of virtual reality. You pile up blocks, pull rockets, fire firearms and dance with adorable robot. First Contact resumes these mechanisms and improves the resolution and details, showing how much the textures of Quest 2 can be magnificent. I found that I spent a better time playing at this level, but it can also be played. Elixir is where the camera really shines. You will need to install the HANDS app, make sure that you have enough room in RoomScale mode and install these Touch controllers. Elixir works exclusively on the movements of the hands followed by the cameras of the Quest 2. Even if you do not walk physically, you will naturally make a step or two, so make sure you have enough space to protect these toes!

I can not insist on it. Even with several hours in VR and without a history of transportation of transport, it starts to touch me. Whether it's your head or stomach, virtual reality is an incredible feeling, but your body and mind are not used to. The demos mentioned above are the ideal time to play one until the end, then remove the headset and give yourself a break from 10 to 15 minutes before you plunge. The Quest 2 has a range of 2 to 3 hours, which is a disguised blessing because you can not play too long without needing a load. I know that video game companies always advise to take a break, but it's a different level when you sit still but your brain thinks you just run a marathon pulling on robots. Give yourself a break and you can play more in the long run.

Once you have mastered the previous demos, it's time to dive and see what other options are available. Oculus Quest 2 comes with a wide range of free demos, including SuperHot, Beat Saber, Space Pirate Trainer and Journey of the Gods to name a few. Get full of demos and see what your quest 2 has to offer. My three favorite demos are Bogo, Space Pirate Trainer and Journey of the Gods. Bogo is a simulator of virtual animals where you stroke, feed and play with a great creature resembling a dinosaur. Space Pirate Trainer is a 360-degree fixed shooting game with incredible details, and Journey of the Gods is a simple but colorful and fascinating fantastic adventure, similar to the Legend of Zelda series. The Quest 2 games are surprisingly cheap - especially compared to the prices of modern games - but if you are not ready to buy, these free demos will offer you a great ability to replay and help you focus on the type of games you want to play.

Transportation and nausea are at the forefront of concerns when you start in the game in virtual reality. To combat these problems, many games are predefined for instant camera locomotion and teleportation settings. Rather than running or looking around with the controllers as in classic video games, you point and teach yourself instead. By pressing the right joystick, your view suits a predefined degree in this direction rather than a fluid movement. Most games offer customization options so that you can find the right parameter for your style. Personally, I prefer the fluid locomotion of the classic game, but some games always manage to reach me and put myself uncomfortable. Before starting a game, you need to check the settings and find what works best for you, even if it frequently pauses and resume the game.

The Oculus Quest 2 has not only a store accessible from the helmet, but you will also need the OCULUS application when you configure the headset for the first time. This informs you not only updates, sales and new content, but this allows you to access the store without having to start the unit itself. Do you want to browse your library? Buy a game that concerns you? Not only do you easily access the full game and feature library, but you can also use the application to access Oculus Go and Oculus Rift stores. Why would you like access? With the Oculus Link cable or another approved connection, you can connect the Quest 2 to your PC and use it to play Rift Store games or even Steam VR.

Take regular breaks is vital, but you have to do more than just breathe. The virtual reality is incredibly fun and I guarantee you that you will transpire without even realizing it. These games are intense, immersive, beautiful and attractive. The graphic output is impressive, and the more you will use it, the more it will take you away. Make sure you moisturize before, after and during the game. Eat something healthy before diving (chips and snacks will not make you service!) The RV is going to be demanding for you, so just as a new pair of Batteries in a controller, you want to be at full capacity to make the most out of your play time.

If you follow these steps, you come out on the other side as an absolute master of virtual reality. The world will literally be in your hands, whatever the world. This list aims to make sure that you are comfortable, safe and that you have fun with this incredible new machine attached to your face and I hope you will have fun with her as me with mine.
