Iwata: NX will not be a continuation of 3DS nor from Wii u

Expanding the existing hardware is boring.

Last week, Nintendo announced his next dedicated game platform called NX, and that's literally everything we know about it. We do not know if it is a handheld or a console or if it is about hardware (possibly it is only the transition from Nintendo to services to services) runs ranly.

In conversation with the Japanese news channel Nikkei, Iwata wanted to explain the enigmatic system in more detail. He confirmed that there is neither a continuation of the Nintendo 3DS nor the Wii u.

If you only expand existing hardware, that's boring, said Iwata (Translated by Kotaku). In some way, we always think about how we want to surprise players and how we wish to change the video leverage of each person.

Just because it is not a continuation of the DS or Wii line, of course, that does not mean that it is neither a handheld nor a console - remember that DS and Wii themselves have a clean break of over 20 years of the Gameboy and Nintendo handheld goods and console lines each at the first start. Nx could be something like that.

What exactly that is - we have to wait until next year, because then Nintendo will finally make an announcement.
