Nintendo Switch: From today there's a lasting price reduction in Europe

Update 10:00: In the official Nintendo Store, the price of the switch has now fallen to 299.99 €. Furthermore, more retailers will probably adapt the price promptly.

Original message: The Nintendo Switch should soon reach the Nintendo Wii from the throne of the most sold home console. By the end of June 2021, around 90 million units of the popular hybrid console were sold. Presumably, sales could soon be criticized once again, because rumors should show the switch a drastic price fall.

Permanent switch price case

Depending on the color model, the switch is currently available in Europe for around 330 euros. But that could change soon: rumors according to the switch should fall in price to 270 euros. That would be the first price change since its release in March 2017.

Where is the rumor? The French side Nintend'Aalents and the Spanish offshoot of GamereActor want to know this from their sources. VGC also wants to have learned from a dealer upon request that the switch in the United Kingdom will be provided with a permanent discount this week.

In addition, the first pictures of a French dealer have surfaced that the console even offer a permanent price of only 249 euros:

When should the price fall? The console should still experience the price fall this week, maybe even today. The fact that several pages have experienced from the price reduction, the upcoming discount is not unlikely and is credible.

We asked Nintendo if such a prize is really planned. As soon as we receive an answer, we will update this post for you.

OLED as a possible reason

Perhaps the reduction of the price could be related to the approaching release of the OLED model. So Nintendo could crank the sales again properly. The OLED model will be available on 8 October 2021 at a price of 359.99 Euro in the trade.

The Nintendo Switch OLED will provide a larger screen, a Switch dock with LAN port, a wider kickstand, greater internal memory and improved audio. The remaining built-in hardware will be the same as the current standard model.
