That makes Deep Rock Galactic so special

In the coop shooter for up to four people we are traveling as a space-dwarf to pour on a hostile planet for our name-based mining company Deep Rock Galactic resources. We do not need much more story to expect, but a healthy portion of dry humor to lock up the gameplay.

Deep Rock Galactic does not take himself too seriously and so our characters in dwarf manner rugged comments to the head and the beer, which we treat ourselves between missions, warns us from bad side effects.

So we work through random cave systems and manifest our own way through the destructible levels. Because as a dwarf, rock is no obstacle for us and so drilling, and we will blast ourselves short of the next rock or use gadgets like the cable car cannon to create new ways.

But not only the environment introduces us in the way — even hordes of beetle aliens want us to the collar and bite us, spit with acidity or try to get away from our team. Luckily, we are anything but defenseless and can move the quarters with flame vendors, miniguns and grenades on the (chitin) pellet.

In addition, each dwarf team member has its own class including skill tree, which we can expand. Thus, the Gunner's heavy gun drives, the Navigator scores the environment, the Driller can drill with ease through rock and the engineer builds approximately protected pins for defense.

Especially in the coop with friend inside makes natural mood and communication and teamwork is rewarded. If you prefer to turn off the micro, you can also use the ping system.

The different game modes are relatively similar. Thanks to the entertaining round and random levels, however, we never get boring. So we have to build pipelines, repair robots, protect a tank drilling through a meteorite leader, hunting on huge monsters or compete against a rival Space Corporation.

The target remains the same: materials for our client farms so that we can upgrade our weapons from the hard-developed wage to our weapons or just spend our credits for cosmetic items like new beards. They are known to be important for dwarfs.

For whom is the game suitable?

Deep Rock Galactic offers themselves for all who want to explore and farms together. Especially with players inside the 20-30 minutes of missions make a mood properly. And even between the missions, we can spend time on our space station together to spend credits or just dance to the Jukebox and to drink the bet beer.

If you prefer to play solo anyway, you can do that as well. Then we get a small helper drone to the side, which helps us in material removal or shoots on enemies. The game makes the game but of course with friends and voice chat.

Assessment of the editors

Eleven Range @ Traduce

Deep Rock Galactic does not have a faithful fan base for nothing. In addition to a sympathetic community, the charming coop shooter also makes a mood — especially with a friend. And honestly, who can say no to space dwarfs. For PlayStation fans, there is probably a better time to try the game once, especially if your PS plus has.
